Exciting historical sites in upstate NY
We have travelled to Brooklyn NY numerous times, but this time we would like to stop and visit a few historical sites along the way from June 5-7.
Our route takes us along the I 90 to 490 to 81.
Suggestions welcomed
Thank you

Saratoga was the site of a major battle in the REvolutionary war - and later a spa for the wealthy. Now home to same plus pnters in august when racing moves there from Belmont.
Seneca Falls was the site of the first major women's rights meeting in the US - led by Elizabeth Cady Stanton among others. (Famously referred to in Obama's speech about his supporters' position on civil rights as part of Selma (segregation), Seneca Falls (women;s rights) and Stonewall (gay rights).)

Be sure to post back when you get closer to visiting Saratoga. I live in town and can fill you in on the latest in restaurants, sights, etc.
While I would not describe Saratoga Battlefield as an exciting historical sight, it definitely is interesting IF you are a Revolutionary War buff. I go there about once every few weeks for bike rides or hikes.

Much of your route will be close to the old Erie Canal which later was converted into the NYS Barge Canal. http://www.rochestertrails.info/Roch...ie-canal-trail
There is an old lift bridge in the middle of Fairport.
