cmc - you are right about our alliance! Maybe one of these days I'll run into you in Bermuda - I'm trying to talk hubby into a Christmas trip some year when we have a family year off for the holiday.
Brown Sugar was a good recommendation - they have another location (the Comm. Ave. one is pretty far out past BU - not far by car, but if you take the T, it seems like an eternity - and I used to live only two more stops away!). The other one is in the Fenway neighborhood, so a short cab ride away for you. There are a couple of bars on the same block for a post-dinner beverage.
If you like Vietnamese, Pho Pasteur (several locations) is also a good option.
Too bad you're not interested in Indian. If you could be persuaded, Tamarind Bay in Harvard Square is wonderful and not the typical fare. All freshly prepared and some unusual dishes you just don't see in every Indian restaurant. The fish curry is great and the dal is not to be missed!
