I just googled Dorset VT and they have a web site that lists 6 or so Inns. Most of them look quiet charming. I can't say that I know anything about Dorset, but I'd take a chance on the top 2 Inns. It looks like Dorset is right next to Manchester. Are you staying in Manchester?

All my trips through Dorset were day trips so I can't comment on the accommodations, but I've eaten at the Dorset Inn (center of town) many times. Their restaurant is excellent and the public areas of the inn are beautiful. As it's right in the midst of everything as well, that would be the one I would choose if we were to stay.

Stayed at the Dorset Inn years ago in a room on the road side.
Who would think there would be traffic seemingly all night.
If I were to do it again, I'd request a room on the other side of the hall.
Otherwise a lovely place.

We stayed at the Barrows House in Dorset a couple of years ago. It was pretty nice. They have a restaurant that seemed packed at dinner time and then breakfast was included with your stay. It sits in a charming setting and had rooms in the main inn and then cottage rooms around the property. The room was decorated in a more minimal, shaker style. It wasn't elegant, but the people were really friendly and they had a nice dog!

This post has reminded me of my cousin, who I haven't seen in YEARS. She works at an Inn in Dorset. I think it's the Dorset Inn, but not sure. Now you have me thinking about her!

Probably is lovely .. it is such a pretty town .. and they offer breakfast as well .. he made dinner reservations there .. I think I heard that the Dorset Inn was better .. We just stayed at the Barrows House and loved it! We stayed in the converted stables so it was a unique experience. The innkeeper was as nice as could be. We didn't eat at the inn other than breakfast, which was delicious.
