B&B in Berkshires

Thinking about going to the Berkshires for a romantic long weekend in February. Can't decide between the following Inns: Village Inn, Yankee Inn, Devonield. Any suggestions or advise would be welcomed. Thanks!!!

Nadine: My husband and I go to the Berkshires every year for our anniversay. I don't know anything about Village Inn, but have stayed at Devonfield and Yankee. They are very different. Yankee Inn (which has recently been partially renovated) is basically a very nice motel. It is located on a major road and in a shopping area. The rooms are basic, some have whirlpool tubs (right in the room, rather than in the bathroom) and most have fireplaces. If you're looking for quaint and cozy atmosphere, there are certainly lots of other places. Devonfield is a true Bed and Breakfast. It is located in a residential neighborhood and is a very big old Victorian looking Inn. We had a suite with a little sitting room and a beautiful bedroom with fireplace. It is run by a married couple who were very nice and helpful. HOpe this info has been helpful.

As yankee correctly pointed out, the Yankee Inn is not an inn at all, but a reasonably nice motel which is located next to a shopping center on a busy highway a few miles north of central Lenox, virtually in Pittsfield. The Village Inn is a true inn - though a very large one - right in the center of town, conveniently located within walking distance of many of the better restaurants. I'm not familiar with the Devonfield. There are many others - it seems like half the big old houses in town have been converted into Inns.

Here's my two cents worth
The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge or
The Inn at the Mill in Egremont.
The Red Lion is large, but right in the middle of town, but a quick drive to many places of interests: Norman Rockwell Museum, etc. The Inn in Egremont is smaller, a fantastic restaurant called The Mill, and also near many intersting places for a weekend visit.
We spent August in the Berkshires, and I would prefer it in the winter, much less touristy!
We are going to Rhinebeck for a weekend in Feb. The Beekman Arms Inn.
Have fun!

The Cornell Inn is a very nice bed-and-breakfast type inn (i.e., no dinners served) about a half-mile north of Lenox center, within walking distance of the restaurant area though it could be a chilly walk in February. The inn comprises three separate buildings - the main house is the more desirable and may be the only building open in February anyway. They have a small pub in the main building, restricted to inn guests only. The rooms have names rather than numbers, are cozy, and some are a bit eclectic. Most are furnished with antiques. "Tower", on the second floor is particularly nice, as is the room underneath it on the first floor, whose name escapes me. The latter has a canopy bed.

My first pick is always the Red Lion Inn because there's are three places to dine within, along with music in the downstairs lounge, so you don't have to even venture outdoors if the weather's nasty. Similar is the Village Inn in Lenox, though it's not as large and sprawling. Both, though, are located nicely for strolling, shopping, etc. If you're looking for cozy, romantic, fireplace, etc., try the Rookwood Inn in Lenox.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have to make a decision today. It's either Devonfield, Village Inn or Cornell Inn. Which one would you pick?

With all the help you have gotten, you can't make this decision yourself?
