Torrington, CT ... Warner Theater? Advice, please?
Are you familiar with the city, theater? Is it a safe, clean area ... good for a one-night stop to take in a concert at the theater? We'd stay one night at a Quality Inn, then be on our way. (I posted about this in the Fodorite Lounge, then realized it would be better here.) Thanks for any comments!

I have family that lives there. It's an older small city. The theater gets great concerts and has been nicely redone.
The Quality Inn is on the Winsted Road and used to be an old Days Inn -- it's very simple.
When we've visited in the area, we've stayed in the Bristol area. Not sure where you are going to next, but you may want to travel a bit farther and get nicer accommodations.
Have you thought about seeing the concert but then staying in a different location?

I haven't stayed at the Quality Inn, but when it was a Days Inn, I heard it was rather run down. They may have renovated by now. When we visit relatives in the area, we do what Lois mentioned: stay in a different town, such as Farmington, and commute.
I don't know anything about the particular inn you mentioned, but Litchfield is a very nice, upscale town. I would imagine lodging there would be expensive.

MareW, thank you for your reply. I can get a standard room at Tollgate Hill Inn, Litchfield, for $115 night (maybe less AAA), and that would be okay with us. I believe we may stay in Litchfield, now that I know more about the area in general. Again, thanks all!
