Merrill Inn in Picton

Anyone familiar with this place? We have a holiday planned for April in Australia, but our anniversary is in February and I'd to get away for an overnight trip. We can't spend a lot and I notice this place had an ad in the Globe & Mail yesterday advertising a special rate of $125 for a night including dinner & breakfast.

I once did the photos for a book about historiacl houses in some Ontario towns, and this was one of the places featured.

I've been outside it half a dozen times, but never inside.

However, the stories I heard from others say it is a nice place. Thereused to be an old Rolls Royce in the driveway. maybe there still is.

And, generally, Picton is a nice place to vist.

Thanks. Picton is a nice area to visit. It's been a few years since we've been there, so it might be time to go back.

Hi Susan.

My husband and I stayed at the Merrill Inn about 3 years back (just after the new owners took over). It was really nice - clean, large, Victorian home. We stayed in an interesting room with a double jacuzzi tub in the turret. It was fun!

If you are going to eat dinner in the area, check out the Hidden Bistro. It was great.

As well as the Merrill Inn, you should check out the Waring House in Picton, and Angeline's Bloomfield Inn just down the road.

IMHO - Out of the three - Waring House, Merrill and Bloomfoeld Inn, I would stay at the Merrill Inn and perhaps have dinner at Angeline's at the Bloomfield Inn.

Hi, we've actually spent a fair amount of time in the Picton area, but not for several years. I think we've eaten at Angeline's and Waring House during previous trips. So I'm looking forward to seeing the area again. I've booked one night there - I know I'll have a crazy work schedule in February so I think that's all I can manage. Thanks for all the info.
