I've googled and found a few. Among them are the Royalton and some rooms at the Waldorf. I might consider either of those options but I was looking for other possibilities.

Does anyone know of a moderately priced hotel (no more than $500 a night) that has working fireplaces?

My preference is midtown, SOHO or the West Village.

The Royalton has a room in the $550 range. It sounds like that's about as moderate as I'm likely to find.

Ryan, those penthouses at the Royalton look pretty wonderful. I assume it is a gas fireplace (The Lowell proudly boasts the ONLY wood burning ones), but at $500 for a Royalton Penthouse -- that sounds like an awfully good deal. At least I assume those are the only rooms with the fireplaces there.

Maybe the Inn on Irving Place, but some rooms are over $500 there. And verify that. I'm not sure if any of the fireplaces there actually work.

We were fortunate to stay in one of the Lowell suites a few years ago.
The fireplace is wonderful, but the high cost doesn't include wood! That set us back, at that time, about another $30.00 per "fire"!

I've seen lots of hotel rooms with fake (gas) fireplaces - and even had an apartment with a mantel and (non-working) fireplace - but never one that burned wood. I would think this is a major fire hazard that hotels would try to avoid.

I'm surprised you found any with a wood-burning fireplace.

I believe that's why the Lowell wants control of building and starting the fires.
We did not have a roaring inferno nor did we have additional wood to add when the fire ran it's course.

I went for the Loft Suite at the Royalton. Thanks for the input.
