reasonably priced hotels in New York City
I hope to visit NYC in September/October. Would really like to stay at Beacon Hotel but as I will need to pay for two people for three weeks plus return airfares from Australia, it may be more than I can manage. Can anyone assist with advice re Wellington or Edison or Milburn Hotels?Would appreciate some help .Many thanks....Peteralan

We have stayed at The Milburn Hotel. The suites have a small kitchen, hot plate, fridge and microwave which is adequate for breakfast, snacks etc. It is nice to have a living room and the bedroom was huge by New York standards. The bathroom was quite adequate. Location of the hotel is excellent. Grocery stores nearby and many reasonable eating places. Subway is close by. Staff at the hotel very helpful.
Good luck.

Thanks Sandy! I really appreciate your advice. Do you know if there are co
oking facilities in the rooms as opposed to suites? Although I guess for an extended stay a suite would be more comfortable. It's good to speak to someone who has experienced it personally. Thanks again!

You may also want to try the skyauction.com website. You can get some real steals on NY hotels, bid per night. I think most actions allow for 10-14 night stays, and then you could just bid again for the same hotel the next week. The San Carlos hotel auction may suit your needs.

According to The Milburn website www.milburnhotel.com the one bedroom does have the small kitchen.
There was recently several threads on Staythenightb&b located at 18 East 93rd St by poster blep, including a full report after she stayed there. www.staythenight.com - Poster blep said it was very reasonable and would stay their again. I don't think the rooms had kitchen facilities though.
Will you be in NYC for the entire three weeks? Perhaps a short term rental flat/apartment would work for you.

Yes, we did have kitchen facilities at Staythenight B&B. The 4th floor apt had a full kitchen; the Barnes had a microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge.the man who runs the B&B, Nick, is great about answering any questions. [email protected]

Hi Peterlan,
Yes, please avoid the Milford and for that matter the Hotel Pennsylvania. Both the Edison and the Wellington are well located for sightseeing, very clean, and have a friendly helpful staff. I have stayed at both (and would stay again without hesitation), neither are "luxury properties" but would be fine.
The Hotel Wolcott is running a special for their 100th year anniversary, room from Sun - Thursday are $100. I did not see a mention of this promotion on their website, so I would e-mail the hotel directly to enquire.
Since you are going to be staying for an extended time, how about a short term rental? I do not have first hand knowledge about who to rent from, but I am sure others here can make a suggestion.
You might also want to look into The 414 Hotel ( http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/ppf/L...com/frame.aspx ) Country Inn the City on West 77th ( http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/ppf/L...com/frame.aspx ) The per night rate of these places may be more than you want to spend, but I would also e-mail these and some of the other places you are considering and see if there is a special rate for a 3-week stay.
Stay The Night B&B that Blep stayed at would give you more of a Neighborhood experience than a hotel.
