Budget Waikiki hotel recommendations?
I booked the Aqua Bamboo but am now not so sure it's the right place. Tripadvisor.com had comments that indicated it was in a not so nice part of town.
My 2nd choice is the Ohana Royal Islander. I'm looking for less than $100/nt near the beach.
Thanks.

I stayed at a hotel (I'm sure name has changed since '77) that was near the International Market Place. You walked THRU the market place to get to the beach. I think it was on Kuhio Street. That neighborhood isn't bad.

I stayed at a hotel called "The Breakers" earlier this month. It was reasonably priced, under $100.00 a night and it is an easy walk to the beach. They also have a fridge in the room and a small cooktop if you want to cook a simple meal.

Thy the Outrigger Reef Towers (not to be confused with the Outrigger Reef that is right on the sand). It is right behind a hotel that is right on the sand so you just take the path between that hotel and the Reef and you are right on the beach. You don't even have to cross a street. Some rooms have a small fridge too. Good neighborhood too. Only a short walk to a large city park on the beach, Ft DeRussy maybe? The pool bar has the best Mai Tai's I have ever had! They have their won special recipe.
I have stayed there 3 times over the last 10 years and have been happy. Clean, reasonable and a good location. Sort of reminds me of one of the hotel chains that you see along the highways: La Quinta, Courtyard, Clarion, that type of place.

You might want to try Priceline. We stayed at the 3* Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for $50 per night. Others have received 4* hotels with bid under $100.

Is it possible to get a 3* or 4* hotel on the beach in Waikiki thats $100 or less per night?
By the way, considering cost of accomodation, is Waikiki beach comparable to Miami beach?
In Miami beach, I got a room for $100 in 3* hotel that was right on the beach and it was on the top floor of the hotel with full view of the beach/ocean. And it was in a nice area of the town too.
