We were there last month. This hotel is fairly good. The rooms are not too bad but very comfortable. They are not wow-looking rooms. The swimming pool is small but who needs a pool when you're right across the street from Waikiki Beach. You must try the evening outdoor buffet. Friday is seafood night--great buffet. The hotel has an excellent location. All shops along the street close at 11pm. Good to walk around after a late dinner.

When I stayed there five years, it was a very nice hotel. However, it is a high rise in a large city, so get an oceanfront room to remind you of where you are, if you can afford it.
One of its biggest advantages, as already mentioned, is its location. When on Oahu, I want to be in the thick of things in Waikiki.
Also, it is on the beach. Many hotels are across the street or even several blocks away.
It has a restaurant with a great beach view, and a very nice pool.
When we were there, the beach right by the hotel was small because of erosion, but the beach was fine and accessible at the Royal Hawaiian next door, also owned by Sheraton.
The beachfront location is the reason for the high rates. Cross the street and rates drop considerably. Get a hotel several blocks from the beach, and it will be almost cheap.
