Yes, there are many great Italian restaurants in midtown. One of my favorites, very popular with natives, is BELLINI on East 52nd Street between 2nd & 3rd Aves (very close to 3rd). Excellent food & service. And Enzo is one of the best bartenders in Manhattan. Enjoy.

One of my favorites is Fresco by Scotto at 52nd b/t Madison & Park. Wonderful food, warm atmosphere, Mrs. Scotto will greet you at the door and make you feel right at home.

I also like Il Menestrello at 52nd b/t Madison & Fifth. Very "old world" style Italian.

My vote is for Babbo, in the Village. Just make sure to call exactly 28 days prior for a reservation.
