My husband and I are looking for a fun place to spend a long pre-baby weekend in February. My doctor won't let me fly and wants me to stay within a 3 hour or so driving range of DC. We're open to going in any direction and would like a nice B&B type place in a location that doesn't have to have tons to offer, but at least has a few things we could venture out to - any suggestions?

Williamsburg. There are a lot of B&B's, some great restaurants, good places to stroll (near bathrooms) and you can see the Jamestown sites before later this year when all the hoopla begins.

Not sure if the Greenbriar or the Homestead are too far,but they will make you feel pampered.
The Tides Inn is close(have not been,but husband has been).
Also, the Keswick in Charlottesville area is very nice.

How about Maryland's eastern shore, maybe Inn at Perry Cabin in St Michaels or The Inn at Easton in Easton.

The Brandywine Valley in SE PA. There are some lovely B&B's including Whitewing Farm
www.whitewingfarm.com & the Fairville Inn. You can visit Longwood Gardens or Winterthur or the Brandywine Museum. You can shop and dine in West Chester which has a lot of very nice restaurants.

Is the Greenbriar closed for renovations?

Yes, The Greenbrier is closed for renovations until April or May. Forgot about that.

Charlottesville is lovely. There are several nice resort-type hotels with spa facilities, etc. There are lots of good restaurants. The univ is interesting to see. There are wine tours (I know, you can't drink, but it's still interesting) and historical sites.
