My husband and I are going to be in DC as part of an anniversary trip we are taking in September. We will have 2 nights. I am looking for something romantic, as my husband is a military man and will be coming back from 6 months gone! We are in our mid 20's so like to be near fun places to go out, etc. We've been to DC before but were with parents so it was different. We are looking at the Jefferson Hotel and the Georgetown Inn. Any recs on these hotels or other ideas?
I'm looking for romance and luxury in a good location! Thanks!

My mom stayed at the Jefferson Hotel a couple of years ago and it was lovely.
Its a nice, small upscale hotel.
I don't know anything about the Georgetown Inn.

If you really want luxury what about the Four Seasons in Georgetown. They are on the edge of the mainstip in Georgetown in the direction of the metro so transp will be easy

The St.Regis is about a block form the white house with Starwood membership I think the room rates are about $225. There is another hotel I noticed this weekend directly across the street same street as St.Regis from the whitehouse, anybody know the name?

The Jefferson is very, very nice. Usually expensive unless you were able to get a good summer bargain. Hotel is walkable to all sights and to Metro (about 4 blocks). You might also consider The Latham on M St. in Georgetown, the brand new Sofitel which has just opened and is running a great deal right now, and the new Topaz, one of the Kimpton Hotels, also new and on N St. I go for the small boutique hotels.
the best bet, howeve, might be The Hay Adams which has just been refurbished and they are running good sales there. Of all that's problably the most Washington and the most romanic and stylish. Across the park from the White House.

The Hay-Adams is not running any specials right now. I have found a Jefferson rate of about $180/night, and the Latham is similar. We aren't doing the 4 Seasons-the cheapest rate I've found is over $400, and we aren't willing to go that high.
Any help on the Jefferson or Latham? There are some not so great reviews, but also some good ones. Someone here must have stayed at one of these places!

Frankly, the Four Seasons in Georgetown is small and cramped and not nearly as nice as the Jefferson which IMO is the nicest hotel in DC.

The Georgetown Inn is in a great spot to enjoy Georgetown and has parking which is a plus in that area. Be aware though that the Metro does not go to Georgetown so the closest stations are across Key Bridge in Arlington or down in Foggy Bottom. Both are a bit of a trek. The hotel itself is OK---rooms are a bit small---showing a bit of its age. For two nights and if you primarily want to be in Georgetown at a reasonable price, it would be a good choice.

The Jefferson is my favorite hotel in DC. I think it's perfect for an anniversary trip.

It's also the place where any movie stars and such stay when they come to town, so you never know who you might see.

We stayed at the Georgetown Inn many years ago on a Saturday and it was very noisy when the bars let out at 2 pm. Our room faced Wisconsin Ave, so noise may be a problem.

Thanks to all! We've actually decided to stay at either the Hotel Rouge or the Topaz Hotel. Which one would be better? Any info? Thanks!
