MIA airport question

We have a tight (50 min.) connection in Miami this Friday. Both flights are on American, but it looks like we will have to change between terminals. In doing so, will we have to go through security again? And will they be sympathetic if we run up saying we're late for a flight?

thanks!

You won't have to go through security again, but I wouldn't waste any time getting from one gate to the other. Maybe if you let the flight attendant's on your first leg know that you have a tight connection they can get you off the plane quickly when it lands.
Good luck!

Have they finished the construction in the Terminal D and E areas? Used to be that certain D gates required you to leave the secure area and clear security again before changing over to the E gates. I understand that was to have been corrected by the ongoing construction -- has that been concluded?

thank you both. i'm glad to hear we won't have to wait through security again. i know we'll be running from one gate to another. the original connection was over an hour, but the flight times changed.

today the flights are in terminals C and A which look relatively close together.

You shouldn't have any problems but don't dwaddle.

Many people have made the mistake of exiting through security. I believe it is between D and E that if you follow the regular overhead signs, it's easy to get directed out to the main part of the terminal, past security and have to re-enter, but there is a cut off corridor between the two that you need to look for to avoid that problem. Just make sure if you come to an area where other people are coming through security the other way, you've made a mistake. Turn around before it's too late.
