B & B in Washington DC

My wife and I want to visit Washington DC, in on October 2, out on Oct 6, this year.

I have read menglers19 on DC in 2 days and gotten some accommodation ideas.

Can anyone suggest a Bed and Breakfast either near the Mall or near a Metro station that we can have for $ 150.00 per night for the two of us? Name and e-mail for them would be great help.

Is that even a reasonable request?

Looking forward to some experienced traveller input.

Many thanks.

Woodie

Hey, Woodie! D.C. is perfect in October. I think if you google B&Bs in D.C., you'll get some suggestions. I'd like to tell you that there's a Days Inn just two blocks from the Van Ness-UDC Metro station, so if you're planning to use Metro, it would be very convenient. I live in that neighborhood, so I know it's a short walk. It may have something in your price range. In addition, at the Friendship Heights Metro station, there's a hotel in the shopping mall right above it.

DC is a big city, it makes more sense to stay in a hotel than a B&B. There aren't that many B&Bs in the city, anyway, and most of them are expensive, not cheap.

The Swann house B&B in Dupont Circle is nice but the lowest rate they have for that time of Oct. is $215.

You can try the Taft Bridge Inn, which is an old mansion near Dupont Circle that's been converted into a b&b. We stayed there about a year ago. It's a little worn (but clean), and the hostess is not particularly friendly, but the location is good, and the room was comfortable. I think we payed about $95 for two.

The Tabard Inn is a very small hotel in a converted town house. I would call it almost B&B size. It's close to Metro, an easy walk to the White House and in a nice area. Within your price range. Every room is different and individually priced. Amazing breakfast.

The Tabard Inn is an excellent suggestion.

DC does not have a lot of B&B's and they are not necessarily cheaper than the hotels. This is a big city.
