My wife and I and our 15 year old daughter will be in Newport Beach in mid February.

We've been to Disney World in Orlando several times.

Is there anything in Disneyland in Anaheim that we won't find in Orlando.

Not really.

I beg to differ. You have a totally different experience with Space Mountain. The Haunted Mansion too. Plus, it's the original Happiest Place on Earth. This is just my humble opinion having grown up going to DL and only recently started going to WDW because I live closer.

Disney's California Adventure is also unlike anything in Orlando.

My kids prefer Knott's Berry Farm to the Disney parks. www.knotts.com. There are great rides and it is more reasonably priced. If you stay away from President's Day weekend, it should be very uncrowded in February.

California Adventure, which is across from Disneyland, may be more enjoyable for your daughter.

There are 15 year olds and 15 year olds. My stepdaughters wouldn;t have been caught dead at Disney at that age.

What does your daughter enjoy most - and how much time do you have in the area.

My fifteen year olds were very regular guests at Disneyland. It is the place to hang out with your friends who have yearly passes.
Please keep your daughter in tow during your visit. My son has told me about many interesting encounters he had with out-of-town teen girls back when he was that age.

I haven't been to the one in Florida, but was at the opening of the one in Paris, back in the late 80s, or early 90s, I think it was. As Dorothy would say,"There's no place like home". The original one is just special...a different vibe.

I've been going, to the original one, since I was a toddler back around 1958. I still have the photo of me standing in front of the floral Mickey and the photos that my parents and grandparents took of the place back then. Priceless.

A close friend of mine, who's a native Angeleno, has family in Florida and went to the Florida one back when it first opened. But, she said there's nothing like the original. Plus, we now have California Adventure on the same property. I haven't tried it out yet though. Happy Travels!

I prefer DL - but if you have been to WDW several times, you'd only need one day to do DL. Then another day you can go to Knott's Berry Farm . . . . .

I did say there are 15 year olds and there are 15 year olds. At that age kids can differ a lot. Mine wouldn;t have touched Disney - they were into art museums, ballet and european films. But - some kids love Disney.

That's why I asked the OP what her daughter's interests are.

Disneyland is the original and worth the visit. Among other things, check out DL's much better Pirates of the Caribbean ride and Pooh ride, and the beautiful building that houses It's a Small World in DL.

Obviously. But since the OP says their kids have been to WDW several times, one would guess/assume their kids DO enjoy the place. Unless their parents dragged them there kicking and screaming.

I didn't mean to suggest that teenagers don't like Disney; to the contrary they love it. (Teenagers going to Disney with parents is another story which I won't get into).

However, teenagers, like parents, get Disney fatigue. I think we all need a few years of being away from Disney before we get the itch to visit again.

What I sense is that the advantages of Disneyland over Disney World aren't great enough to want me to spend the time and money to visit.

I'll leave it up to my daughter when we get there. If we do go, i'll let you know how it went.

If you've been to WDW several times we'll assume you enjoy it. Go to DL for a day so you can have the fun of your own "comparison". I would absolutely check it out.
