3 days in November, torn between Charleston and Savannah
We are planning to take a trip for the Thanksgiving weekend. Minus driving and time for other plans, we will have 3 days in the Charleston/Savannah area. I can't seem to decide whether to spend all 3 days in Charleston or 2 in Charleston and 1 in Savannah. Please help me make up my mind!

IMHO you can flip a coin and have a great three days in either city. You could do the 2-and-1 option if you really want to see both, but I don't think you can get the true feel of either in a day.
I'd opt for three days in Charleston if you pick one over the other for a first time visitor.

I would pick Charleston over Savannah unless you are on really tight budget as Savannah has a plethora of cheaper dining and lodging options.
Charleston is a fantastic place and I prefer it to Savannah. The food in Charleston is first class and rivals New York and Chicago.

For outstanding food, Charleston is far superior to Savannah.
For shopping, Charleston is much better.
For upscale hotels, Charleston is superior as well. Though they both have nice B&B options, nothing in Savannah rivals Charleston Place or the Market Pavilion hotel.
For range of activities Charleston offers more than Savannah.
I guess that makes the score Charleston 4.5, Savannah 0.5 on my scorecard.
