3 days in November, torn between Charleston and Savannah
We are planning to take a trip for the Thanksgiving weekend. Minus driving and time for other plans, we will have 3 days in the Charleston/Savannah area. I can't seem to decide whether to spend all 3 days in Charleston or 2 in Charleston and 1 in Savannah. Please help me make up my mind!

IMHO you can flip a coin and have a great three days in either city. You could do the 2-and-1 option if you really want to see both, but I don't think you can get the true feel of either in a day.
I'd opt for three days in Charleston if you pick one over the other for a first time visitor. |
You could do 3 in Charleston or 2 in Charleston and 1 in Savannah. 1 day IMO is sufficient for Savannah but 2 may not be for Charleston. Depends on your interests.

I would pick Charleston over Savannah unless you are on really tight budget as Savannah has a plethora of cheaper dining and lodging options.
Charleston is a fantastic place and I prefer it to Savannah. The food in Charleston is first class and rivals New York and Chicago. |
Charleston!

For outstanding food, Charleston is far superior to Savannah.
For shopping, Charleston is much better. For upscale hotels, Charleston is superior as well. Though they both have nice B&B options, nothing in Savannah rivals Charleston Place or the Market Pavilion hotel. For range of activities Charleston offers more than Savannah. I guess that makes the score Charleston 4.5, Savannah 0.5 on my scorecard. |
And there you have it. You should spend 7 hours and 12 minutes in Savannah and the rest of the three days in Charleston. |
Charleston, that is! Thanks to all!
