suze i need some PV hotel info

My nephew and his friend are arriving on March 13th for 7 nights.

I think they should stay in old town because they are on a limited budget. What would you suggest for around 50.00usd a night that might have a kitchenett or even an mini fridge. They are very laid back so something basic/clean and not to far from the beach.

Hmmmm... I'm afraid I don't know of anything quite that cheap with a kitchen or frig near the beach.

Perhaps Hotel Azteca on Madero? Or Villa del Mar?

Hotel Posada de Roger is my personal favorite. But doubles are $65 right now and there's a small charge to add a frig brought up to your room. www.hotelposadaderoger.com

I recommend you go to www.vallarta-info.com and look under the budget category. You'll find an excellent complete listing there.

Very close to the beach, but no kitchen or pool, Posada Lily is a nice place at around $30/night, I believe.

s140~ If you get it narrowed down to a few possibilities, post again, I'm happy to answer any specific questions you (or they) may have.

Casa Dixie is in a residential neighborhood, so a bit of a hike to the beach (or bus or taxi), but it looks charming and the price is right at ~$40USD/night. It's been getting good comments from those in the know.

Is the only youth hostel in PV. Again it is a ways inland from the beach (near the tunel on the south-side) but only 140 peso (~$14USD) per night per person.

I don't think that $65 would be out of their budget. I know for the years i have been on here you do seem fond of the Posada de Roger. So i will pass that info onto them.

Does it have a web site?

I do love the place, but it's definitely not to everyone's taste!! And I'm used to paying more like $30-45 max. I'm not sure I'd give $65 for those rooms. But the website photos are accurate as to what the hotel and rooms are actually like.

Hotel Eloisa is right off the beach in a perfect location south-side, at the end of the new Malecon extension. The rooms prices vary by ceiling fan only or air con, TV or not, etc. and number of people in the room. They used to have rooms in the $55-75 range but I haven't checked in a few years. Great rooftop patio with tiny tiled pool, another tiny pool off the lobby, elevator.

s140~ there's only a couple other posters here on Fodor's who go to old town PV.

Other websites and forums that might be able to answer your question include:
the PV forum at Trip Advisor
www.allvallarta.com
www.vallarta-info.com

I recognize the building location of that condo but don't know anyone who has stayed there myself.
