can't go wrong with either! The Punta Mita's beautiful, but a little isolated, in a prettier location. You do feel a bit stuck at the resort unless you rent a car.
The Ritz has just been totally redone.
I have a weakness for Cancun and the beautiful ocean, though some don't like Cancun, but I'd choose the Ritz if it were my choice, ocean front, ask for a private balcony.
Although it also depends on length of flight for you..

Thanks. The flight is about the same. We just want to hang out and relax. Do not need to go into town in either location. Trying to decide which is a more relaxing, luxurious, location. Have been to Carribean and adore water/sand. Emjoyed JW Marriott last June.
Have never been to Pacific coast of Mexico.
Loved Loved Loved Four Seasons in Maui. Is Punta Mita similar?

the water isn't as pretty at Punta Mita. It's not bad, just not as pretty. I was there in July 2 years ago, and couldn't swim in ocean because of jellyfish.
Sorry, haven't been to the Four Seasons Maui, so can't compare the two.
Not to sell you on the Ritz, because Punta Mita is wonderful, but if you like to leave the resort at all, the Ritz will be easier. It's about a 45 minute drive back to Puerto Vallarta to visit that town.
If you just want to chill out at the resort, though, Punta Mita is awesome.
Lucky you, let us know which you pick!

Don't know if price is of concern but the Ritz looks like a better deal right now than Punta Mita for an oceanview room. The club level at the Ritz is fantastic and takes care of all your meals except possibly dinner and the food is exceptional.
We stayed there in April when the prices were considerably higher and loved every minute. Virtually every room has incredible views of the Caribbean.
Whichever you choose, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.
