Well, I thought I posted this a few hours ago, but I don't see it. Will try one more time. Before I get into my question I want to complement the participants on this forum. Everyone is so helpful and positive. I've loved reading the trip reports and see many return vacations in my future! Actually reading all those journals has made me think that the area I've accepted as a timeshare exchange is probably not where I really would like to be. I am going to be in Playa Flamingo for the first week of August. My question is about airfare. I have found that the lowest tickets to Liberia airport is $631 and the lowest for SJO is $374. Quite a difference. Obviously, LIH is much closer to my destination. I don't think I want to ride an extra 3 hours ....but it would save about $250 per ticket. Should I explore Nature Air ( some mentioned by a poster) to see if they could connect me to LIH. Any thoughts?

You should be able to catch a short and cheap flight from Sansa or Nature Air to Liberia or Tamarindo. Where are you booking flights from? I too, thought at first that Liberia is more expensive but after a week or so of fare checking got great deals to Liberia...ended up being same as San Jose so I would recommend keeping an eye out.

Flights on Sansa, from SJO to Liberia run about $160 r/t and take a little over an hour. Then again, August is pretty far away and fares will fluctuate many times in the next few months, so there may be a lower fare available to LIR in a few months.

Who knows what the fares will do, but when we booked our trip last July, air was exactly the same to SJO and Liberia from Dallas--$621. It stayed that way for months before (I would keep looking at it every so often even after we had purchased). Of course, it's always a lot of $$ out of Dallas, it seems.

That's quite a difference you've come up with, though. Do wait awhile and keep checking as the ag123 mentioned.

Haha was laughing at that even before your repost ;-) Now is that good thing? Where are you flying from, I recommend Intra tours (www.intratours.com , have had good luck with them. intra has august flights out of SF-LIB for $390
