With the carte Orange...

I see that many people talk of the Zone 1-2 and the Zones 1-5

What is there of interest in the Zones 3 to 5 that you would consider a nice reason to have the Zone 1-5 card...Is there enough to see in these zones that you would make a lot of trips?

Just a questions to see what is within each zone to see what ticket would work...

Thanks

I don't know what interests you, but you can download the RATP zone map and see what you think: http://tinyurl.com/g4a5p

As a general rule, zones beyond 2 are not cost-effective for tourists visiting Paris. There are things in the outer zones (Disneyland, Versailles), but unless you plan to visit them several times each, the extra cost of additional zones is not justified. Zones 1 and 2 cover all of Paris itself.

Depending upon your plans, I would agree that Zones 1-2 with supplemental tickets if you plan to go beyond is probably the most economical.

I think sometimes people get the 5 zone because of airport transportation. Usually, it wouldn't be useful for a typical tourist.

To the above, add Orly airport which is in zone 4.

I don't think Auvers-sur-Oise is included in the Carte Orange regardless of what zone it is in on the map because it's not on the regular RER line. I think the RATP map distinguishes such places with a footnote.

yes, Pontoise is and you can get there with a pass, but Auvers is not and I don't think you can use a Carte Orange to get to Auvers, only Pontoise.

I know, but Robes says you only have to buy tickets from the last point covered by the pass, rather than from central Paris...not that it's that many €s difference.
