Where do we want to stay in Santorini?
Hello all. I'm putting together a last-minute trip to Greece. We'll spend most of our time in Chania but intend to take a brief trip to Santorini. We're looking for something moderately priced (not more than 150 euros), within walking distance to nice beaches and decent food. We're in our mid 30s so a little night life is nice but nothing to loud and rowdy. Does Firostefani sound reasonable? Thanks very much.

Going to Santorini to stay on near the beaches is like going to DisneyWorld for the gambling ...
You might be able to walk to a beach from Firostefani, but the walk back would be a killer ...
Imerovigli doesn't have much for nightlife but it's the highest place on the caldera and is an easy trip (cheap cab or bus) to Oia or Fira. You can get a standard studio at a place like Sunny Villas for under 150E. Fireostefani isn't a bad option, though.

I'm the same age profile and would hate to take a holiday in the middle of discoland but for my money Firostefani would be too quiet. Oia is more my style (still a fairly quiet place but lots more going on in terms of restaurants etc).
If you want to be within walking distance of beaches on Santorini you would be looking at different locations altogether like Kamari or Perissa. Buses are not bad so no matter where you stay you can access the beaches.
Personally I would stay somewhere pretty like Firostefani, Oia, Fira (i.e. in a town on the caldera) with a pool and travel to the beaches.

Thanks, everyone. I've narrowed our search down to a few place and would love any feedback. The last place, Eltheon, is considerably cheaper than the others and has a pool so I'm kind of leaning towards that.
An apartment "20 steps down" from Lena's House on Caldera, Oia.
Lava Oia's

Hello. To follow up, we did wind up at Eltheon in Imerovigli and it was lovely. Nice pool, nice staff, quiet, reasonable, lots of room, etc. It's also right next to a bus stop so there's easy access to other parts of the island. Imerovigli was indeed very quiet but it was quite easy to get around. Oia was as charming as everyone says but - my goodness! - the crowds. We were very glad to be staying elsewhere. Ditto for Fira.
Also, a note about the beaches. We took a bus down to the black beach at Perissa and it was well worth the trip. Black sand with clear, calm water. We happily spent an entire day there.
