Tuscany or Umbria rental: Asking the impossible??

In Tuscany, we have stayed in the countryside and also inside a town (Montalcino). We prefer being inside a town because we love to walk back and forth to dinner and enjoy a spontaneous gelato, etc. However, we also really love to have a pool for our kids.

Is it crazy to try to find a villa/farmhouse rental within or within walking distance of a town WITH a pool??

Anyone heard of one? I have not had any luck so far.
I'd be thrilled for any recommendations!

thanks,
dina

Dina, Look at this one near San Quirico. A good walk to town but I love this location.

Bob, that place looks GREAT! In fact, it might be perfect. This is my favorite location, too.
How long is the walk to town, do you remember?

(The only downer is that i don't think it has air conditioning, and we'll be travelling in early July.)

Thanks so much.

Pienza,I believe, has 2 or 3 places with pools. One,at least (Piccolo?) has air.You may want to search for them.

AC isn't absolutely necessary in Tuscany, even in July. Even on the hottest days (including recent >100F heat wave) nights cool down nicely and properly closed up & shuttered buildings will remain comfortable during the afternoon hours.

yes, i did find a lovely hotel in Pienza with a pool (Il Chiostro). But i am really looking for more of a villa/apt. Which is practically impossible to find within a town.

Il Poggiolo is looking like my only option so far. Good pointt about the air conditioning JABEZ, but i'm not sure if we can handle not having it. We cranked up the airconditioning both times we were in tuscany last time.

I also really like La Saracina, but that is definitely not in a town.

i'll keep looking.. thanks, everyone!

I stayed at Vacanze Ideale outside Paciano in Umbria last year for 3 weeks for something like $300 a week in a two-bedroom villa/apartment with two pools. Absolutely loved the place and would go back in a heartbeat (oh, wait, I did go back in October

I don't know if it has a website or not. I found it through friends who live in the area.
