Where did my message go?
I posted a message this morning with the words "Relief Band Returned" included in the title. There were two responses when I checked at 8:00 a.m. It's now 5:30 p.m. and the message is gone. I even searched under my name...

Don't search on your name - - that can take anywhere from 24 hours to several weeks for the "indexing process" to make the words in a "fresh post" to be accessible by the "search process".
And might I suggest that you e-mail this thread to [email protected]? - - it might mean more coming from a newbie that you had to struggle to find your own posts. I consider it disgraceful - - and have repeatedly spoken out about the fact - - that Fodor's fails to include this simple tip ("click on your own name"
in the e-mail that they send to you when they confirm your registration.
Best wishes,
Rex

This happened to me yesterday. I posted a message and it quickly disappeared. Clicked on my name and it wasn't there. Scrolled down the list past the approx. post tim and it wasn't there. Thought it was swallowed by cyberspace, but it reappeared a couple of hours later. Weird.

Not weird. Just code that needs an overhaul. Are you listening, Fodor's?
Make each thread a linked list of pointers to posts. Each contributor's name is also a linked list of the threads s/he has posted to.
To add a post, you create a new record and add its number at the end of the "thread" list and the number of the header to the "poster" list. Bam! Instant updating. No more searching. Greatly enhanced throughput.
You're welcome.

Have had messages of mine dissappear as well... it has happened several times. They do indeed reappear when I click on my own name, but it does mean that nobody else will see them! This only seems to happen on the Europe forum - I visit the Caribbean forum as well and there it never happens. Perhaps because the Europe forum is so busy, they can't show everything at once...? Would be nice to get response from one of the Fodors editora about this.

It is indeed because this forum has such high volume; your posts almost certainly NEVER disappear. Fortunately, I think that a lot of people DO scroll "way down"... 100 posts, 500 posts or more, when they come/return here.
But if you want to increase the visibility of your post, do not be bashful about bringing it (recurrently) back up "to the top".
