Previously posted - - on a nessage "thread" that someone just now topped for you - - but "topped" messages always drift apart from the question to which they are relevant.

Message: The messages here are listed in reverse chronologic order, newest to oldest - - according to when they LAST had a message added to them - - not according to the date/time they were first posted.
So any addition of any new message, no matter how inconsequential, brings a message back up to the top, in the lefthand column,
topping refers to adding such a little message, to send a message (thread) back "up to the top".
Best wishes,
Rex

I don't hink I really finished ny though - - in fairness to Fodors, topping is increasing arcane, archaic and irrelevant to the forum (though I still do it for first-time-ever posters who may not know so readily how to find their own first time post).
What with the ability to find your own posts, and to cite other posts' URL's (am I right in thinking that these are still essentially undocumented?) - - Fodors would not be out of line thinking that the practice of topping deserves to die a natural death.

On antoher thread this morning, Xenos referred to this thread, correctly identifying it as one from which fodors has removed the abilito (easily) add additional messages.
But they never make it all that difficult.
http://www.fodors.com/forums/postrep...0&tid=34377330 does it.
I won't be surprised nor offended if they choose to remove this thread entirely.
