Can someone please explain "ttt" ?

I'm confused. Someone did tell me it stands for "to the top" but how does it work? What happens when you post " ttt " in your message? Why and when would you do that? Thanks.

When you post "ttt" or add anything to a message, that thread automatically jumps to the beginning of the postings. Since most people only scroll through the first page or two of postings, it is a way to bring new attention to that question or comment.

If your enquiry is sinking down the chain of messages for want of replies, i.e. being superseded by subsequent messages, hitting "Post a reply to this message" will open up a message window. You don't actually have to write anything when "replying" to your own message, but it's customary to write "ttt" or "topping". Having done that, you click on "Post my reply" and this will send your post back to the top of the list. Some posters resurrect other people's posts in the same way, for various reasons.

see http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34772693 for an example of a less current posting of yours - - made "fresh" again... by "ttt".

Best wishes,

Rex
