What to do over the weekend?
Hi. I'll be traveling to Rosenheim (an hours drive from Munich) in early November. This will be my second trip and the first time I have had a weekend (Nov 8 & 9) in Germany. Any suggestions on what to do, where to go, what to see? I was thinking Amsterdam but I'm open. I'm more into the nightlife and hanging out at cafes and clubs than the museum scene. I will not have a car while I am there.

I don't quite get your question here.
What's wrong with Munich itself? They have plenty of nightlife there as well as 'nightlife'. Or how about one of the winter resorts near Rosenheim? Reit im Winkl, Kufstein and Kitzbühel are quite close.

Frankly, neither do I. Why would you travel to Rosenheim for the weekend when what you really want is nightlife, etc.? Why not just go to Munich...getting to and from Amsterdam would take up most of the weekend anyway.
Perhaps you didn't give us all the information/circumstances.
Have you been to Herrenchiemsee....the most opulent of ALL the Ludwig castles? Just a short train ride/boat ride away in Prien. Again, for "nightlife" I'd stick to Munich.

Wow - what a bunch of responses! Perhaps lottotx is traveling on business and, this being the second time around, has already "done" Munich. I don't know why lottotx should have to give us all the circumstances just to ask a simple question. Now, while I agree that Amsterdam would be too far out of the way for just a couple of days maybe Prague or Berlin would be more feasible!

nobody "has to" do anything on these boards, including answering questions. Usually people ask for details so they can give better advice and understand the situation. Some people don't want to waste a lot of time writing useless information or trying to mind-read.
I'd suggest Innsbruck, it's close to Rosenheim. Salzburg isn't far, either, and well worth seeing in itself, although I don't know about nightlife there in particular. It certainly has cafes--some nightlife exists, as I heard the drunken young people in the street at night.

I read the original email as em is in Rosenheim for work and has a free weekend before leaving Germany.
Rosenheim is on the Munich-Salzburg line Very near Salzburg & less than 1.5 hr from Munich), so given your short time, I'd pick one of the two.
Club scene in Munich is above avg. There is a bit of a nightlife in Salzburg and the cafes are better in Salzburg than Munich, IMO.
