venice transfers - airport to cruise dock

We are going on the Aug 8 sailing of the Star Princess and have elected not to take the rather expensive transfers offered by Princess. There will be 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) and I am looking for a reasonably priced, "user-friendly" transportation service to take us from the airport to the cruise ship terminal.. Any suggestions?

I'm not exactly sure where the cruise ships dock. I think most dock right near the San Marco vaparetto/alilaguna stop. If so, you can take the alilaguna (water bus service to/from the airport) for 10e/person (not sure if there are child rates). The website for info is alilaguna.com

This may mean you have some walking to do with luggage depending on exactly where the boat is. The other option is to take a water taxi which generally costs 85e for the trip (not per person) which will take you as close to the ship as it can.

There are other modes of transport that would get you to the train station (land bus, land taxi) but I don't think that's where you need to be. The website for those is actv.com just in case. Have fun. Out of curiosity, how much does the ship charge?

Isnhc, you can get to the terminal, from the airport by land. There are busses, or alternatively, you can take a taxi.

However, by doing this, you'd be missing the arrival by boat, which I think is the grandest impact of arriving to Venice.

Here is a link to Venice's Passengers' terminal:

We saw cruise ships docked in varying locations, but most of them were fairly near the train station and car park. I would suggest you be certain you know where your ship will be docked.

Isnhc - Your cruise leaves from Bacino Stazione Marittima.

A taxi there from the airport should cost about € 30.

Otherwise bus to Piazzale Roma is the budget option ...

Hope this helps ...
