Venice Hotels - Final List

Hi all!

I have narrowed down my list of Hotels in Venice from many hours on TripAdvisor and on these Forums. If anyone has stayed in these it would be great to get your review! I like TripAdvisor but the reviews here feel more "Real".

Venice trip is 3 day, 2 night stay end of June. (Rome afterwards). It will be me and my fiance.

1. BB Venezia (Bed and Breakfast) - #7 on TripAdvisor for Bed and Breakfast's

2. Pensione La Calcina - #24 on TripAdv for B/B + good reviews from 1 other member on here

3. Hotel Cristallo - Lido - #49 Hotel on TripAdv (Location wise this one seems to be too far away)

4. Ai Tagliapietra B&B

5. Al Ponte Mocenigo

6. Palazo Guardi

-Thanks all!

Can't wait to write about my trip when I return!

Personally, if you only have two nights, I would take the Lido hotel (#3) off the list.

Can you get a room at La Calcina? They seem to book up quickly.

I think a number of fodorites like La Calcina. Did you search its name here on the Forum?

We couldn't stay there because they were full, but we had a lovely brunch on their beautiful patio overlooking the Zattere (sp?). We visited the lobby and spoke with the front desk person. It looked amazing for the price. Great location, too. If they have availability, I'd jump on it.

Yeah La Calcina is big in these forums... On the web it says they are full but I am hoping there may be an availability that opens...I have emailed them.

@tuscanlifeedit - good point. no need to be that far away.

thanks

Ok, so let's assume for narrowing purposes that 2 and 3 are out. Of the remaining choices, I would probably go for Al Ponte Mocinego, just based on reputation.

I've stayed twice at Al Ponte Mocenigo and loved it. I've also enjoyed staying in the area of La Calcina. Knowing both their reoputations, if either one had a room available, I'd grab it.

Because La Calcina was full when we inquired, they sent us a discount coupon to enjoy a meal at their restaurant. They are a class act. Maybe you can get a coupon, too, worst case.
