Venice Lodging

We're interested in staying either at La Calcina or Ca'Angeli in Venice in late September. We would appreciate any feedback you could give us regarding the area, experiences during your stay at either place, etc. Thank you in advance!

Hello kat, no doubt some Fodorites are familar with this hotel but I would think some are not. In any case if you would post the websites for these two hotels it would be a big help to those familar with Venice to respond about the area etc. even if they have not stayed in the hotels that you are interested in. Best regards and my good wishes that you enjoy beautiful Venice which is unlike any city in the world.

If these are small hotels, make your reservation quickly. They fill up.

We have stayed at La Calcina twice in September. We booked 6-8 months in advance as this is a very popular hotel and we wanted a canal front room.

We love the location and the hotel is very well run. The breakfasts are lovely especially sitting outside on the canal. The dinners here are a very good value. Overall we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We did book a room at both hotels, knowing that they are popular and well-respected. La Calcina is almost 100 euros more a night, and I'm just wondering if the difference is price is worth it. They both receive excellent reviews and appear to be lovely.

Hi kat12,

I take a look to La Calcina and Ca' Angeli's websites. I suggest you another small hotel in Venice: Ca' San Marcuola. http://www.casanmarcuola.com/ It’s a small hotel convenient to the train station and ten minutes' walk to Rialto Bridge. The staff was really friendly and helpful, the room seemed recently renovated, clean and with a nice canal view. The room style is more traditional Venetian than La Calcina and Ca' Angeli.

We're staying at Ca' Angeli at the end of this month. If you're still undecided when we get back, perhaps I can pass along our experiences.

We booked months ahead. Have you checked to see if there is any availability?

Thanks, I'd appreciate your input on Ca Angeli after your trip. And we have reservations at both places for the third week in September.

Having stayed in towns near Venice in the past, we're looking forward to staying right in Venice to really take in the special flavor of the city!
