Wren, you're right: in France sales dates are strictly limited and defined by a decree from the government. The bigger ones - winter - tend to start later and later, something like mid-January this year. So don't expect any Anglo-Saxon like Boxing Day frenzy; apparently shop keepers are more than happy to keep a safe buffer time betzeen Christmas and sales. BTW, the famous dates vary from region to region so, as a British friend puts it, a serious shopaholic could have a ball criss-crossing France to be there every time the sales start, be it in Bordeaux, Lille or Paris!

I guess the Paris sales are over (they are still going on in Brussels)...Did anyone find good buys on skin care products at pharmacies? Here in Brussels many pharmacies are offering, for example, 30% off Darphin, 20% off Caudalie, 25% off Decleor, etc. These products are already much cheaper in France/Belgium than they are in the U.S., so another 20-30% off is a good deal.
Compared to last year, I didn't see anything on sale at the Longchamp stores. Last year, I saw lots of things on sale, including some really popular items. This year, when I went in the store, I couldn't find anything marked down. Did Longchamp have stuff on sale in Paris?

Sorry, I disagree. I did some web searching for Darphin. For the skin cleanser I use, the "discount" web prices range from $33 to $48. I paid 21 euros PLUS the pharmacy gave me several generously sized free samples of other Darphin products. The Caudalie body soap I use is offered by discount U.S. sites for about $15. I paid 5 euros. Plus more free samples. If you can find places in the U.S. selling the full sized bar of Caudalie soap for $5, please tell us...I have friends back in the States who'd love to order it. (assuming that shipping and handling is free and the supplier also includes free samples of other Caudalie products, as the pharmacies will do in Europe).
