Suggestion on best things to do in a day in Lucerne, Switzerland

Please suggest what are the best things to do/see in Lucerne, Switzerland in a day. Which stop in Lucerne we should get off at when we are coming from Interlaken?

I rather enjoyed the transportation museum. And I don't even like museums.

Hi Motumotu,

Cruise the lakes, stop and walk through the lakeside villages. Get schedules and info at

www.lakelucerne.ch

Have fun!

Motumotu, Lucerne is a beautiful destination in itself. The old town is charming with painted frescoes on the church and public buildings. It’s delightful to stroll across the flower bedecked Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrucke) in the center of town. A ride on the lake is a must – then there is the option of a trip to nearby Mount Pilatus in the Alps. In my opinion, Lucerne is among the most charming towns I have ever visited – you will enjoy it.

Walk around the old town.
Walk around where the ships dock.
Walk along the lake down to the Verkehrshaus.
Stop in at the garden restaurant outside of the Casino and have a nice glass of white wine.
Look out for John Cleese.

Thanks for the info.

Please advise if we will be able to do the following things in a single day:

walk around the old town, transportation museum, cruise on the lake, stroll across the Chapel Bridge and a trip to Mt. Pilatus.

I have no idea regarding time required for each of them. I can drop trip to Mt. Titlis as we will be going separately to Jungfraujoch a day before. Will the four day swiss pass be valid on the cruise on the lake?

No. A trip to Pilatus will take more than half your day.
A cruise on the lake takes a half a day.
The transportation museum takes a half a day.

Pick and choose according to the weather.

Tour the Old Town
Walk the ancient Town Walls
Walk the bridge across the river
Take a steamer to one of the towns around the Lake
Ascend Mt Pilatus (tram, cable car or feet if you're ambitious)
Visit the Lion Museum

There's enough for several days staying in Lucerne.
