Visit Berne or Lucerne?

If you could see either Berne or Lucerne for a one day visit. Which would it be?

Thanks

Both are nice, but Lucern, hands down.

Hi davidjac,

With its lake system, Luzern offers better scenery and more outside activities (imo!).

Been to both. Luzern is my choice.
Best museum: the transportation museum.

I hope you have clear day and enjoy the visit.

As a city - size of historic area and coherent look of the really old town, choices in shops and restaurants, ease of getting around - Bern wins hands-down, but as a springboard for mountain-top views Luzern has the Rigi and the Pilatus nearby, and the lake - all things for which Bern has equivalents, but at a couple hours' travel distance.

So for a one-day jaunt, it's Luzern.
