Studying in Vienna
Hi everyone-
I go to school at the University of Illinois and over winter break they are offering the opportunity to study for 3 weeks in either Vienna or London. I was in London last year, however, have never been anywhere else in Eurpore. I would love to live in London for 3 weeks, yet am curious about Vienna. Would Vienna be equally as enjoyable/entertaining as London for a group of 20-21 year olds in the winter time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we have to decide in the next week or so. Thanks

Does anyone speak any German? Would that be a problem given the living arrangements the program provides.
Don;t misinderstand - many people in vienna speak english - and tourists definitely don;t need t speak German - but coping in a residential neighborhood for 3 weeks with no German might become tiresome.
Separately, I have always found Vienna somewhat triste - interesting , but not especially lively - and London more youthful and energetic.
Those minor points aside, I really think either would be a good choice.

Since you have never been in Europe (outside of England), I would think you should go to Vienna. In addition to seeing Vienna, you could possibly visit other European cities on weekends -- Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Salzburg, etc.
