Split to Dubrovnik

Could anyone please recommend a charming place to stay in between Split and Dubrovnik? We will be making the drive and wanted to break up the trip somewhere. Thanks in advance.

The drive from Split to Dubrovnik is not long, perhaps four or five hours. I would suggest that you go on to Dubrovnik. I know that is a charming place to stay!

Thanks, Judi. A little more info from me maybe would help. We will have been sailing for a week (from Dubrovnik to Split). Thought we would spend 3 nights in Dubrovnik at the end of our trip, but thought it might be interesting to stay somewhere else along the way.

I can't help you but I'm topping this in the hopes that someone else can.

Have a wonderful time! I envy you.

You can sail the islands, Hvar, Brac, Korcula. That should keep you occupied for two-three days. Don't miss Pakleni archipelago in front of Hvar town. Beautiful area for sailing. Island of Korcula has many beautiful sailing spots as well, such is Proizd islet in front of Vela Luka village.
One night on Elafiti islands, near Dubrovnik, is also a good idea.
Hope this helps.

There are also the islands of Vis and Lastovo. The Footprint guide book to Croatia mentions a few other small islands near the coastline between Split and Dubrovnik - it's a really good source of info.

Perhaps I have misunderstood but I think that ccc will have already sailed and now plans to drive from Split to Dubrovnik. The question is where to stay between those two cities. (Correct?)

Thanks, Judi. Correct. We will already have sailed around the islands and are looking for a place to stop on the drive between Split and Dubrovnik.

I have misunderstood the question, sorry my mistake.
You can stay in Makarska which is very pretty little town but it can be overcrowded in July and August. North of Makarska little village Brela is popular for its beautiful white pebble beaches.
Further south there are Ston and Mali Ston on the Peljesac peninsula. Try oysters and mussels in one of the restaurants, they are famous for it.

I also want to sail around the islands between Split and Dubrovnik in September. What do you know about the renting of a sailboat? [email protected]

We booked our boat through ClubAdriatic (www.clubadriatic.com). They have been very, very helpful.
