safe locations in Rome

We plan to stay north of the Roma Termini. My understanding is that this may be a fairly safe area. Is it safe to walk between public transportation and our hotel? Thank you for any information.

Which hotel did you choose? I stayed in three hotels near Termini recently and always felt safe, even when walking alone.

I do not like the area behind the Termini. I thought it was really seedy. We have stayed near the Termini and near Campo di Fiori. I lovved the area around the Camp di Fiori but did not like the area around the Termini.

geowhiz1, could you be more specific about your location? I think it will be as safe to walk there as anywhere, but you do need to watch out for pickpockets, but you do everywhere.
