Question about this forum

Can anyone explain why, when I post a message, it sometimes does not show up on the forum immediately? Sometimes it shows up on the next day. Even if I put in my screen name to get all my previous messages, the latest one often does not appear. What am I doing wrong????

I have absolutely no idea what you are doing wrong. I don't even entirely comprehend your questions.

For those shortcomings, you have my apology. Although I dismally lack expertise of any useful sort whatsoever that might guide you out of your anguished darkness, I want you to know that I, too, have all too often flailed about in the face of a some complexity or other.

There is surely someone around here capable of translating your request and that very someone will be your salvation. There may very well be a pack of someones and most will treat you gently.

And if no help appears on the horizon, then you will sort it out for yourself, one way or another. Don't give up.

This can be an interesting place once you figure out where the doors are.

Don't "put in" your screen name (i.e., don't text search on your screen name) - - click on it.

It will yield the following:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...JU34&fid=2

Text searching your name is no different than text searching any other word - - it requires indexing, which may be in a few hours, or in other cases not for days, weeks or even months.

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi HAR, I am not a computer expert by any length of the imagination but I do understand what you are asking.

I have sometimes posted but my post doesn't show up. Here is what I do. Say I post on the Europe Board. My post doesn't show up. I click Talk. I then click Europe again and then my post in on the thread I posted on. The reason, I don't know..I just know that this has worked for me.

Also, Rex mentioned clicking on your name. Next to the Welcome in the upper left hand side of your screen you will see you name. Click on your name and all your post will show up. Or you can do the same when you see your name on a post. I hope this helps a little. And don't give up..it took me a bit of time to figure out how the Fodor's Board operates. Best regards.

Hi

The same thing was happening to me for awhile (and others too). Don't know why. After posting if you don't see your post try "Refresh". Then you'll see your post should have moved OP to the top. Check there or as suggested simply select your screen name. Your post should be there.

HAR: "Sometimes it shows up on the next day."

Sometimes a post may not show up immediately - but it will w/i a minute or two. It never takes a day (or even an hour) for a post to display. But as Rex says - don't "search" for your posts - click on your name to bring them all up.

Hi har32ju34,

I have also had this problem for quite some time... I click on my name and the most recent posts I have posted to do not show up, if I click on my name again, they usually do.

Initially I figured this was a programming error with "counts" because the number of posts was was also wrong. Then after paying closer attention, I found it was a larger problem. I certainly hope Fodor's puts their ace programming team onto this problem soon -- and, until they do... I simply click on my name until I see what I know to be my most recent posts.

Hi all, I just wanted to mention that as others have said on another thread this website is sort of messed up again today. I have found if I click on the Post Your Reply at the top of the screen I can post. But if I click the Post Your Reply which is at the bottom of the screen I cannot.

To see your most recent posts, you will often have to click your name twice. Has something to do with caching (maybe?) not that I have a clue what caching is.

If you have that problem, usually it fixes itself if you click "refresh" or "reload" - whatever your browser calls it.
