PARIS Latin Quarter Hotels Please !
Greetings Fellow Francophiles,
We wish to stay in the 5th in a good value hotel with a nice view and charming rooms. It's an anniversary, so romantic is an issue. Anyone have a favorite ? I'm looking at the Grandes Ecoles as first choice so far. Start talking gang! Thanks a million.

The Abbatial St. Germain is definitely charming with a great location on Blvd. St. Germain, and it's a fantastic value. The rooms are small, tho, but they're well decorated and contain all the essentials (in-room safe etc.) You can get views over Blvd St. Germain or back toward Notre Dame.

I agree about Abbatial St. Germain. We stayed there last Oct.-nice place, nice bathrooms, nice breakfast, very nice location. The only thing is the view rooms are on the 5th & 6th floors. Walls are thin however. We had a triple on the 5th floor. You must ask for these types of view rooms. It's one hotel that actually will guarantee the particular room # you specify & state so in your reservation.
We had the room that's pictured on their website.

I also recommend des Grandes Ecoles. I have stayed there 3 times and it is great. Residence Monge has clean but very small rooms, a good breakfast. But it can't compare with des Grandes Ecole for both rooms and ambiance. Ask for a room in the garden building as there have been complaints about the main building

We just stayed at the Hotel Europe St. Severin, just steps from St. Michel and the Seine. We had a small balcony, the room was very small but nicely decorated and with all the necessities - mini-bar, TV, A/C,. Had a nice bar and restaurant, and a LIFT! 115 euros for a double, and the location was unbeatable! Would definitely stay there again. We booked through Venere.com/
