Securing luggage in Pisa for a couple hours?

Hi,

I'm travelling by train from Rome to Florence later in Oct and plan to stop in Pisa for a few hours on the way. Is there a luggage locker or some other way to secure my luggage safely while there?
Thanks!

Mike,

At the airport in Pisa there are luggage lockers and also a desk where you can check your luggage with a person. You could take the train from Florence that takes you to the Pisa airport and stow your bags there while you sightsee.

Brenda

Once upon a time you could stash your luggage at the Pisa Centrale train station, however I don't think that's true any longer. It's been a couple years since I went thru Pisa ... any others with more up-to-date trips?
Just back from Pisa, the left luggage station is open .. far end of the station, past the lockers.

Pisa Centrale station left-luggage may be open now but in January when I was there is was shut, and station staffers said there was no left luggage then. So don't depend on it.

PalenqueBob: I know the self-service lockers were closed post 9-11 (I don't believe Pisa had manned left luggage back then) and I read a couple of posts ~Dec/Jan03 saying they were still closed.
But they opened a manned left luggage sometime earlier this year, you probably just missed it .
It was open in mid-March when I visited. The signs for it were still just cardboard taped to the station walls .
tonyb: Thanks for the updated info. Regards, Walter
