Paris: fountain question

There is a fountain in central Paris that has statues in it. One of the statues has a woman (maybe it was a mermaid) holding a fish with water spouting out of the fish's mouth. Does anyone know the name of the fountain? There is a replica of this fountain outside the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

This large fountain is in the Place de Concorde. I don't have the name of it now as I am at work.

Are you able to be more sepcific as to where this fountain is located? Sounds as if it could be the one at Place de la Concorde, but here's a website with photos that may help you best (found by a search for "paris fountains" on google.com):

It is the one at place de la Concorde. It's by Hittorf, named "La Fontaine des Mers", at least I think that's it although I haven't been to see the one at Las Vegas, it sounds like it

Thank you. I searched the Internet unsuccessfully for it. A lot of pictures, but not the name . . .

Now I can finally label that picture of my wife in front of it . . .

Try going to the google image search.

Do a google search on several words, such as: paris concorde fountain. Then when the results come back, ignore them and click on the images link at the top. It will only search for images with these words in the 'alt' tag. I tried it and turned up some images of a fountain that looked like the one you described.

To make it easier, here some of the more promising results I got from the google image search:

Check out the site I listed above, which has photos of ALL the fountains in Paris! Also of the bridges - it's pretty cool.

This page has a close-up of the woman with the fish.

I was told that the 4 statues with a city's name on them represent the four cities furthest east, west, south and north in France. Any truth to this?

My favorite is not a female fountain figure, but a very visigoth (viking?) looking fellow holding a fish.
