We are returning to Nerja in April for the fourth time; it's our favorite place in Europe! We rent an apartment and settle in. Email me for any questions that you have and I will try to answer them.(I have a lot of restaurant recommendations.) It is a beautiful little town and I know you will be happy there.

Judi--
I am also planning on going to Nerja in early June for four days of our 10 day trip. No idea where to stay. We heard it's absolutely amazing, so I'm excited to go. Any advice you could give on hotels there in good locations would be great.

I guess you'll be arriving in Malaga and then sit backand enjoy the ride to Nerja!Wediscovered it way back when it was atiny place. It still is fun.Stop by the tourist in formation office and load up on maps and info.My favorite memory are the caves that were dicovered by some boys in 1959!If you get a chance visit or better still try to spend a night at the Parador,it's built on a cliff,do lunch there at least! We also liked the restaurant el colono-guitar music/ flamenco dancing!

We loved Nerja - we stayed at the Balcon de Europa and enjoyed it quite a bit. We had a junior suite overlooking the Med for about $100 a night. There were a lot of British tourists at this hotel, which was fine with us. It is centrally located and many restaurants are near by. The only problem we had was driving - the only place we got lost in all of Spain. But it wasn't too bad - maybe took a half hour extra to find the parking garage.

We have never stayed in hotels while in Nerja so these recommendations are based on location:
The Balcon de Europe has the best location in town.
The Parador looks like an office building on the outside but the grounds and view are beautiful. It has just been renovated.
The Paraiso del Mar is overlooking the sea and is next to the Parador. Ask for a room with sea views. This would be my first choice. Email [email protected] Ph: 95 252 16 21
Hotel Carabeo (attached to 34, one of the best restaurants in town). More like a B&B, great location Ph:95 252 54 44
Casa Mercedes on the east side, no sea views: www.casamercedes.de/
Plaza Cavanna one block from the Balcon, no sea view. Good location, may be noisy. 95 252 40 00
Hostal Marissal next to the Hotel Balcon. Connected to a restaurant. 95 252 01 99

I have phone numbers for more hotels if needed. They are on the west side and I am partial to the east side.

Vanessa, I am wondering if you are going to Nerja at the beginning or end of your trip. If you go at the beginning you may not want to leave! If you fall in love with it as we have and want to return for a week or more, I have a wonderful company to recommend for rentals: www.inter-sol.com

We are planning on stopping in Nerja on Easter Sunday on the way from Marbella to Granada. I'm not sure of distances.
We plan on seeing the caves and possibly eating at Ayo's. Would it be sensible to continue driving onto Granada that night or stay over in Nerja and continue the next day? Is it an easy drive to Granada? Also, would you recommend the caves? We are travelling with our two daughters, 25 and 20. Thanks

The caves are the best I've ever seen! The drive to Granada is through some pretty scary mountain roads, bad enough during the day so stay over near or close to Nerja and enjoy the drive early the next day-you want to get to Granada early anyway because of the crowds

Judi, you mentioned that you had many restaurant recommendations for Nerja. Could you please advise. I'm still in the planning process but based on research it sounds like we'll base ourselves a few days there, and we love indulging in good food and wine. Thanks!
