<< To ask a bunch of travelers for their "most wonderful city in Europe" and then restrict their answers with so many conditions that most of us can't give ours -- well, that borders on cruelty on a travel board. >>

Cruelly treated is exactly how I felt when I opened the thread and saw the restrictions. Thread titles should reflect what the OP requires without changing the terms and conditions once you open the box.

Cruel is usually reserved for the poor treatment of a dog or Cinderella. The word that comes to mind for this thread is why?

"pgriffin, you didn't answer the question. Granada does NOT fit the question. So why are you berating others? If you didn't have an answer, why did YOU answer?"

NeoPatrick, yes I did answer the question. Granada is in Europe, is a town or city and I have visited it in the last year.

Like others, I have chosen to ignore the four countries he has tagged on the basis that the question refers to Europe.

If I was sitting an exam I might seek more clarity but on the basis that this is a fun (well meant to be anyway) and interactive forum I have proceeded using the whole of Europe.

From now on responses will be restricted to tagged countries? From now on responses will be restricted to the parameters set out by the OP? That should result in fewer "too many, too fast, too much, slow down, later, sooner, go here, go there, change the order" .... pieces of unsolicited advice.

Excellent.

Future threads:

"What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you?"
(only responses that include activity with a car vacuum and
shaving cream and only if it happened in the past four days)

"How can I save money at the Supermarket?"
(only give suggestions that will work at the Podunk Piggly
Wiggly in Nebraska and only those that apply to buying canned
tomatoes)

Well, you get the idea. . .

But did you miss the tag by the OP -- "Belgium , France , Greece, Italy"? Just as the title said "ever visited" but the the thread specified "in the last year", it seems his tagging restricts "Europe" to just four countries. I'm certainly not the only one who interpreted it that way, in any case. And Spain is NOT one of those countries.

Rogandgee,
It has been 13 months since I have been to Europe, so your limitations preclude my participation in your search, but I am very curious and sincerely hope you will come back and respond as to why you set that precise limit. It would be interesting to know your reasoning. Things do change, but would so much change that a city visited last year say, in August or September, not still have merit to be considered?

Was last in europe about 3 months ago - to see a client and added 5 days vacation on to that.

Asking someone for their TOP favorite place ever - and then saying one has to have visited in the last 12 months just doesn't make sense. I do get to europe several times per year but many are business with a little vacation attached and perhaps one vacation trip. And we don;t go to the same place every year - since over the years have visited more than 25 different countries.

So - no I don;t like the rules - which don;t match the post title.
