La Coupole

Expedia has a deal for dinner here. Has anyone ever eaten here? They also have one at Le Boeuf sur le Toit. Anyone been to either place.

What kind of deal? I like La Coupole, but I like ordering a la carte. Had a wonderful meal a la carte and a so-so meal on the prix-fixe menu.

I have eaten there dozens of times. It is standard brasserie fare, good food and service, deco decoration, great wine list and always buzzing.

I have never had the "prix-fixe menu", but love the oysters and entrecote. I have also feasted on the "Fruit de Mer" platter over a very lonnnggg lunch with friends - excellent!

I guess it's always nice to save a few bucks (or euro), but there is nothing more frustrating that prepaying for one of these deals, getting to a restaurant seeing the menu and saying "Oh look, they have my favorite dish" but then not being able to get it because it's not one of the choices on the prepaid "deal".

Yes, Patrick! That's why I prefer à la carte.

I've eaten at La Coupole. It's perfectly fine, but there are much better places nearby in the Montparnasse neighborhood (like Le Cameleon!).

How does the Expedia deal work?? If it's like "restaurant week" here in US cities (set menu), then I would avoid it. A la carte will more likely deliver something you'll likely remember for a while.

Hi gb,

If you go to http://www.flobrasseries.com/resa/en/
and make reservations online, you get a 15% discount at La Coupole.

Good place for martinis and oysters (great decor!) but there are better places in the area for dinner.

I must admit, however, that for a place as big as it is, they do a pretty darn good job. Steak Tartare is made tableside and is quite good.

I've eaten there and it was okay, but I only go there when I haven't made plans and am in the area and not looking for anything special.

I would never prepay for a dinner at a Parisian brasserie, and wouldn't buy any deal for dinner from Expedia at that place unless you were guaranteed the complete prix fixe with drinks for 5-10 euro or something. I seriously doubt if they are offering any special deal that amounts to much.

My husband and I had lunch at La Coupole last year. We had the lamb curry, which they're well known for. It was good, but wasn't very spicy. We enjoyed the experience and the waiters more than the food.
