West L.A. restaurant

There will be 6 of us and would like a restaurant in the area of Santa Monica or Brentwood that is Italian or something comparable to Ivey on the Shore. Thanks

All Italian:

Peppone

Giorgio Baldi

Valentino

Capo
www.caporestaurant.com

Giorgio Baldi is supposedly popular with some movie industry people. (It's on the way to Malibu.) Peppone and Valentino have been in business in L.A. for decades. Peppone is my favorite of this list.

Of all of them, Valentino seems more like what we want---have you eaten there?

Yes. Excellent food. Amazing wine list. Very expensive (to me).

I've eaten at Valentino twice. I would have the same comments as Jean.

The only downside to Valentino (in my opinion) other than the cost is with larger groups, like six, you always feel just a bit squeezed into the table, especially when they're super busy.
