Hi dino,

Sorry, I can't help on this one.

You might want to ask at http://www.slowtalk.com/6/ubb.x?a=fr...mp;f=862600685

The slowtalk people specialize in Italy. Many of them live there.

Dennis -- I checked out the location of Villa San Pio, and it's a bit off the beaten path. It looks charming, but not in the center of the activity in Rome and it doesn't appear to be close to a Metro line that will take you to the major sites.

I would look for a hotel close to the Piazza Navona, the Spanich Steps or the Pantheon. These areas are within walking distance of all the major sites. Good luck.

Dennis,

I could be wrong, but I think that VILLA SAN PIO costs roughly as much as ALBERGO DEL SENATO, which is on the Rotunda Della Pantheon, and a much better location for seeing Rome.

We stayed around the corner from this hotel last July, and due to the constant raves about it on this forum, I peeked in and was very impressed. The location is unbeatable-- you can walk to most major sites, as well as many fine restaurants and shopping. Check out previous posts and you'll see that the hotel has garnered high praise here.

Good luck with your choice!

The hotel's website is at:
http://www.albergodelsenato.it/welcome.htm

Try a search again on this board under "albergo del senato"--there are tons of threads about this hotel.
