I am so much of an addict I've added a straight link to the Europe chat board on my Mac bookmark bar! ( did this at work and school too). I check it when I'm supposed to be doing work, reading or any other important activity. I feel bad when I don't "check in" every day. It's a sickness that I'm all too happy to have.

I now have a beloved friend in Athens (whom I finally met in May), and two valued and hilarious friends I visited in Canada, all thanks to Fodors.
Not to mention the occasional PM's I exchange, with others who make me laugh, or whom I admire.
When we've got a good thing going, why question it?

Boy, do I relate! I think the thought of travel, especially the planning stages, is such a relief from the stress of everyday life. I find myself checking in daily...wish I had the time and I probably would be on more! I've gotten such great travel tips from this site. It's such fun to see what others have enjoyed (or not) on their trips, and to compare notes from similar itineraries. I have to say that I'm proud to have this kind of addiction....gambling, drugs, don't do it for me

Nah, it's great. I had the BEST time on trip number 5 to Venice and got tons of information, tips and new ideas from Fodors. Plus my DD got a job from a cyber friend of mine here on Fodors! I love Fodors.
It's funny of course, because the first time we met "cyber friends" for a gtg in Paris, DD was sure we were taking her to dinner with axe murderers. Now she is used to my internet travel buddies, and soon to be employed by one of them.

Me, too! We did our last trip to France in October, and I decided to quit cold turkey. I figured that the free-fall dollar meant that we would not be going back to Europe for a long time. Why even look at the Europe Board?
Didn't work. I got Fodor withdrawal symptoms, and just had to peek at the U.S. Board, as that will be the only place we can afford for awhile.
My addiction is too well established, however, and I keep finding myself back here with you Europhiles. The mouse seems to have a mind of its own.

LOL - but he can tell because it takes a while for the screen saver to kick in and then the blank screen. I do the same thing - hear the garage door and think to myself, I really shouldn't be sitting at the computer once again when he comes home.

It's just that the addiction makes the list of better things we've got to do keep getting longer.
Right now, for example, I've got to finalise two presentations I'm giving in different continents in the next 24 hours. And the animation's not working right.
So what comes first? Getting the dissolve on slide 6 of the New York presentation right? Or sorting out PalenQ's last bit of nonsense about football?
No brainer, really, isn't it?

One more thing....
I've been perusing Fodor's daily for the last couple of years while planning our first trip to Italy. My husband would tease me about my Fodor's addiction until we took our glorious trip and he knew that it was so wonderful because of the research and tips from all of you.
I don't get teased anymore! Now he happily joins me.

No, not a full time "Fodor's addict", but when I'm planning a trip, that label does apply.
If it wasn't for Fodors, I would probably be taking group tours- Yes, I know they're ideal for some people, but after doing my own research/planning with the help of Fodorites, I can't imagine taking "someone else's" trip.

I agree that Fodor's is addictive. I'm should be studying for a Windows Server exam for tomorrow night, but I'm "studying" Fodor's instead. I have my test tomorrow night, and am trying to "clean" my disk at work. Then Friday we go to Pigeon Forge, TN for a family reunion (with my inlaws); return home Sunday and then Monday drive to Atlanta for our Thanksgiving trip to London. Hopefully, all will go smooth!
