To JaneB re dukarol

Dukarol prevents at least 60 % of e coli caused diarrhea etc. You take it orally twice about 6 weeks apart. We are just heading off to the Orient and were given it by the physician at our local Travel Clinic here in Victoria BC Canada. Having dealt with Delhi Belly in the past this stuff sounds like a godsend. Maybe try a Google search for more info.

I looked it up and it was developed for cholorea but is now given for other problems. It does not seem to be available in the US yet. I couldn't even locate it on the Canadian on-line pharmacies.

Hi Bob-No, I wasn't bitten, however I read Kathie's recent post about rabies being endemic in India and remembered we had shots for Africa, however they only last 3 years so we needed to get some more for India. Many dogs have rabies in India and also I was bitten in Vietnam (Hoi An) so I didn't want to take a chance again. We're taking Metoclopramide for nausea & also Flagyl for stomach bugs. Geee...we'll rattle when we walk. All the best!

rhmkkmk you suggest that "if its not available in the us....i think i would stay away from it..."

What ??? If it's not available in the US you would stay away from it ? Brilliant.

Here in Canada Dukarol is perscribed by physicians at Travel Medical Clinics as a prophylactic against travellers diarhhea caused by e-coli. It has been on the market for a couple of years and has the approval of Health Canada. Now I won't get into that whole thing about how some US politicians claimed drugs from Canada were unsafe etc etc. but please don't be so damn narrow minded as to presume that if a drug isn't available in the US that one should stay away from it.
