i will be visiting europe

I will be visiting Europe in late April first for the first time and my first stop is London. How does the Eurail work? I was hoping that I would be able to ride it all over Europe for day trips. Is it like the subway or is like Amtrak with sleeper cars. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dear cocotulips, you are going to have to learn how to use this Forum although I would be the first to say (well actually Rex would be the first to say) that Fodor's does not give clear instructions.

First off, once you post a thread, if you can't find it again just click on your name next to the Welcome sign at the upper left side of the screen. That will bring up your thread and any post (answers) that you have received.

Secondly, titles such as Help and null (what in heavens name does null mean?) does not mean anything to anyone going through the threads (the ones listed on the left side of the screen).

Repost, one more time. Make your title something that will catch the eye of people here that can answer your questions. Something along the lines of "London, Europe and Eurail Questions"

Best wishes to you, I hope that you will figure out how this Board works so that you can get the information you are searching for.

Europe in late April for 1st time- How does the Eurail work?
This is what I suggest you title your thread. That will get you some answers.
And you can add the rest about the day trips etc.
Your title is the most important part though, you have to grab attention but you have to give a clue as to what you need help with.
Good luck..

Maybe Fodors fills in the word "null" if you forget to type in a post title? I don't know, but they might -- sometimes I send emails and forget to fill in a subject and they get sent anyway.

You do need a new post with just a subject about Eurail questions or really train questions. As a matter of fact, Eurail is the marketing name of certain passes, not the name of the train, per se. There are a variety of trains in various countries and they differ -- the Amtrak-like trains will be for longer routes, but there are suburban light rail trains around many cities that you might use for day trips. The subway is kind of one step down from that. Some trains have sleeper cars and most do not, of course, if they aren't overnight runs.
