Hotels in Lisbon

I'm looking for hotel recommendations in Lisboa!

I had planned to stay at Hotel Mundial, but when the dates of my trip changed, there were no longer any rooms available. Now, I would love to hear any suggestions for someplace similar.

If this helps -- something comparable to the Hotel Plaza Mayor or Hotel Europa (Madrid) or Hotel Maestranza (Seville) would be perfect.

Thanks!

Hi

I bookmarked Hotel Residencial Florescente - http://www.residencialflorescente.com - because a poster in this forum recommended it. Maybe try using the forum's search facility to find the post. Good luck and happy travels.

Hi. I stayed at the Residencial Florescente in July 06 and also stayed at the Hotel Maestranza in Seville in March 07. They are pretty similiar and I would stay in both of them again. The Florescente is in a very good location, walkable to most things and also close to a metro stop and to the stop where the airport bus drops you off. The hotel itself I thought was quite nice for the price, very clean, good breakfast, internet access in the lobby for a small fee. I would stay there again.

We stayed at Residencial Florescente, in January 2005, following reccomendation from the forum, and must say was not disappointed. It is a simple, clean and friendly hotel. When we arrived late night and needed to return the car at the airport rental office, the night manager lent us his car to use for our way back to the hotel. If you have problem with noise, ask for a room which does not face the street, although it has a beautiful view of castelo de Sao Jorge, it can be noisy until late and very early morning (morning street cleaning crew). It is right in the center and near to the bus and tube stations. If you are going to Coimbra, and would like to suplurge a bit, I highly reccomend Quinta das Lagrimas. It is not as pricey as the top hotels in Lisbon, and is really well maintained, beautiful and wonderful food.

We are arriving in Lisbon on Dec 25th and are looking to stay 4 nights. I have checked and neither the Residencial Florescente and Hotel Mundial are available.Does anyone have any other recommendations? If at all possible we would like to stay under $150. we look for clean, good location, helpful staff - doesn't have to be real fancy - just clean and decent.

Hi

What about Hotel Dom Sancho - http://www.domsancho.com. I keyed in your dates and there's rooms available at €460 for 4 nights. Good luck.

I don't know anything about the hotels you've mentioned, but we liked the Dom Carlos Park very much.

Nah sorry I haven't stayed at the Hotel Dom Sancho but I bookmarked it for a possible future visit. Maybe check on Trip Advisors for reviews.

I stayed twice at the Hotel Borges. Unbeatable location in the Chiado over the landmark Cafe Brasileira. It is a big, old hotel, very simple, and the rooms vary widely. It can be noisy if you face the street and keep the windows open, as there is lots of street "entertainment" and action outside.

Thank you all so much for the help. I have made a reservation at the Dom Carlos Park. Did you find it to be in a good location (we've never been to Lisbon and are still trying to familiarize ourselves with the area).

Thanks

Yes, we liked the location. Vey close to a metro stop, right near Avenida da Liberdade.
